Ê Read é Liberty or Death (The Soldier Chronicles #1) by David Cook ↠´ jan-eaton.co

A highly charged, thought provoking novella I can t recommend this enough.
describes Liberty or Death as an authentic historical story set against the brutal backdrop of Ireland s Great Rebellion That neatly sums up this novella The story is set within the Great Rebellion but that isn t the main thrust of the story The attack on New Ross is interwoven neatly with Major Mullone s intriguing assignment It s packed full of action and tension with a plot that keeps the reader turning the pages The battle scenes are quite graphic, evoking some horrible images in the reader s mind, so it may not be for the squeamish but this is a great story for anyone who enjoys military fiction and or thrillers I particularly liked the fact that the characters are three dimensional, portraying the conflicting thoughts and loyalties of the Irish born soldiers serving in the British army during a conflict Is May, , And Ireland Is A Country At War One Hundred Thousand Peasants Have Risen Up Against The Crown To The Tales Of Men, Women And Children Butchered As Traitors It Is Whispered That The Feared And Despised Ghosts Of Oliver Cromwell S New Model Army Have Returned Seeking Bloodshed, And No One Is Safe Major Lorn Mullone, A Man Forged By War And Torn By Past Failures, Is Sent By The Government To Apprehend Colonel Black, A Dangerous And Shadowy Figure, Ê read é Liberty or Death (The Soldier Chronicles #1) by David Cook ↠´ Who Is Harming The Fragile Peace Talks With His Own Murderous Retribution In A Race Against Time, Lorn Must Journey Across A Country Riven By Fighting, Where At The Walled Town Of New Ross, He Discovers A New Horror In The Desperate Battle For Peace, Lorn Must Survive For The Sake Of Ireland S Future Liberty Or Death Is An Authentic Historical Story Set Against The Brutal Backdrop Of Ireland S Great Rebellion, The First Novella In The Soldier Chronicles Series I felt compelled to read this novelette I am a lover of history but know little about the period around the late 18th century and in particular,1798 and the Irish conflict Whilst I feel for the Irish, D Cook s portrayal opened my eyes to the problems that they and the British encountered This is a gritty historical novel and I wish it had been longer The author s use of language and exquisite dialogue held me from the first page through to the last His use of period language and descriptive prowess just goes to prove to me that there are some brilliant, as yet, widely unknown historical writers, who arethan ready to enter the international stage David Cook is definitely one of one I didn t know where to start so I just bought it having a penchant for any historical novel My faves are Simon Scarrow, Bernard Cornwell, Jane Austen, Ken Follet, Patrick O brien I was not disappointed The narration is well researched and is an easy and enjoyable read.
Liked the battle of New Ross, it really puts you in the midst of the fighting and the terrible retribution committed afterwards I heartily recommened this and will download the next one in the series.
It is August, 2014, and Goodreads is a country at war.
One hundred thousand sockpuppets have risen up against true readers It is whispered that the feared and despised minions of the New Cheating Scheme army have returned seeking bloodshed, and no one is safe.
In a race against time, true readers must journey across a country riven by fighting, where at the walled town of Listopia, they discover a new horror.
In the desperate battle for peace, true readers must survive for the sake of Goodreads s future.
Õ Liberty or Death (The Soldier Chronicles #1) é Liberty or Death was probably one of the rare books that are as far from my usual genre as ever However, I was instantly drawn to its detailed historical description and the realistic writing style Lovers of historical fiction and war will adore this book Brilliant

Detailed and convincing descriptions packed full of action and tension with a plot that keeps the reader reading on with excitment and enthusiasm Well written and recommended.
On , I gave this book a five star review I ve only given it a four star rating on Goodreads because I give books five stars very infrequently usually the books classics I return to time and again to read To put that into perspective, of the 276 books I ve read, I ve only given nine books a five star rating With Liberty or Death, David Cook proves to be a serious writer, capable of bringing history to life His historical facts, coupled with keen phrasing, makes this novella a story worth your time Mr Cook doesn t shy from the harsh truths of history in this case, the rebellion of the independent minded Irish against the English crown in the late 1700 s With that said, his interpretation isthan fair, allowing the reader to make up his her own mind as to the justifications for both s I have devoured nearly every Bernard Cornwell book, every C S Forester book and have a good idea what to expect from other historical stories of the Napoleonic period I ve read them all an avid fan since I was a student.
I want action, intrigue, characterisation, intensity and, I m sorry to say it, blood and guts If I m reading a war story that s what I expect Forget the loose dialogue, silly sub plots I want to know what I m reading I don t want to read Sharpe or Hornblower esque copy cat stories, I want originality I picked up a paperback today with The Sharpe of the Civil Wars on the cover is that what publishers are doing now Where s the originality Hard to come by in the age of reading and I suppose there are just so many plots stories that mirror each other.
Liberty or Death I was intruiged by the title, downloaded it onto my kindle and enjoyed the sam
